Esprits de Chantier

Vincent Bastie, architecte inspiré, a rénové l’Hôtel des Mathurins sur la période 2004 à 2005. Mais le chantier ne s’est pas arrêté là. Didier Moinel Delalande a voulu donner une autre dimension au Mathurin en acquérant l’immeuble voisin en 2007. Il a tout naturellement confié à Vincent Bastie le soin de relier le nouveau bâtiment à l’hôtel existant. De ces années de collaboration est né cet « Esprits de Chantier » qui, grâce au photographe Benjamin Chelly, fait l’objet d’une belle aventure photographique. Ce chantier n’est pas juste une rénovation. Didier nous dit « qu’il s’agit de faire rêver les voyageurs du monde entier… de leur donner à vivre à Paris une expérience dont ils rêvent avant de partir ». C’est ce pari audacieux et contemporain que Vincent Bastie est chargé de mettre en œuvre. Garder l’esprit du lieu, y faire épanouir une âme propice à célébrer l’atmosphère des voyages, la volupté des vacances, le confort et la sérénité… Envisager les volumes, les espaces et les matériaux comme autant d’outils, de medias et d’éléments d’un tableau qui sera offert aux visiteurs… L' »Esprits de Chantier » -que Didier, Vincent et Benjamin propagent- se prolonge avec les nombreuses personnalités qui viennent ici, dans les gravats, les planchers démembrés, les plafonds écorchés et les murs ouverts, se faire prendre en photos pour une bonne œuvre (Le Rire Médecin).

Esprits de Chantier (or ‘The Spirit of a Worksite’)
Vincent Bastie, an inspired architect, renovated the Hotel des Mathurins from 2004 to 2005. But the work did not end there. Didier Moinel Delalande wanted to give Le Mathurin a new dimension by acquiring the neighbouring building in 2007. He logically entrusted the task of connecting this new building up to the existing hotel to Vincent Bastie. These years of collaboration gave rise to this project called ‘Esprits de Chantier’ (or ‘The Spirit of a Worksite’) which, thanks to the photographer Benjamin Chelly, is the object of a great photographic adventure. This worksite is not just a renovation. As Didier puts it « the aim is to make travellers from all over the world dream… to give them an experience of living in Paris that they dreamt of before coming here ». It is this daring and modern challenge that Vincent Bastie has been asked to take up. Keeping the spirit of the original building, revealing a soul that will celebrate the atmosphere of journeys, the indulgence of a holiday, comfort and serenity… Considering the volumes, spaces and materials as tools, media and elements of an ensemble that will be offered to our guests… ‘The Spirit of a Worksite’ – that Didier, Vincent and Benjamin are transmitting – is continued by the many people who come here, amongst the rubble, the dismembered floorboards, the skeleton ceilings and the open walls, to have their photo taken for a good cause (the charity ‘Rire Médecin’).
